5 Reasons to Learn to Crochet

Hi! I hope you’ve been having a good week.🙂

Crochet is one of my favorite hobbies. This post is all about why you should learn to crochet (if you didn’t guess from the title😁). Let’s get started!

1. It’s fun! 🥳

The main reason I crochet is just because it’s so much fun! It’s so fun to work on something and watch it take shape, and so fulfilling to finish your project and see what amazing thing you made.

2. Crochet is calming 😌

The repetitive motions of crochet make it very calming. It’s not repetitive in a boring way, but repetitive in the same way coloring a mandala is. You do the same thing over and over to achieve a beautiful end result. I like crocheting simple things, such as a granny square, when I want to crochet and think at the same time. When I make something like a stuffed toy, it usually takes all of my attention, which is calming in a different way because you can’t be thinking anxious thoughts while crocheting a difficult body part of your stuffed animal. 3. You can make so many different things!! 😃

As you know if you’ve been following my website, I mostly crochet stuffed toys. But you can do so much more! You can make practical things like scarves, hats, and blankets, fun things like amigurumi, toys, and play food, and completely random things like a dog plant pot cover or mushroom chap stick holder! Also, once you’ve mastered the basics of crochet, you can make up your own patterns to crochet anything you want. 🙂

4. Crocheted things make great gifts 🎁

As I mentioned above, you can make lots of different things, so you’ll probably be able to find something to make for anyone you give gifts to. There are so many amazing patterns out there, I have lots of fun finding the perfect things to make for my family. Most people love handmade gifts, so that’s an added bonus! 😀

5. It’s a cheap hobby! 🤑

Since all you need to crochet is yarn and a hook, it’s an inexpensive hobby. Most crochet hooks are affordably priced, as long as you’re not buying a huge pack of them or fancy ones such as bamboo crochet hooks. Craft stores often have yarn on sale, and you can sometimes find it for low prices at thrift stores. Some craft stores have their own brands of yarn that are sold at lower prices than most other yarn. Of course, as you get into crochet, you might want to upgrade to fancier hooks, buy stuffing, and get expensive yarn, but at least the start up cost is low.
